Better Wi-Fi coverage with Radiating Cables

Advantages

  •     Larger Wi-Fi cells, fewer client handovers
  •     Fewer access points, less infrastructure
  •     Homogenous coverage, fewer radio dead zones
  •     Cable sharing with other radio signals

For bidirectional Wi-Fi applications in the frequency range 5.15 GHz … 5.925 GHz the TX/RX booster amplifier AMP51505925-TRX as driver for radiating cables is available. This booster compensates the longitudinal attenuation of the radiating cable. By chaining multiple segments with boosters a significantly longer cable run is supplied from one access point. The use of the Wi-Fi amplifier simplifies dramatically the cell planning in complex applications with many access points. The booster amplifier is supplied via a central DC feeding unit via the radiating cable. The booster forwards the DC power from one to the other RF port via an internal BIAS-T. Therefore further booster amplifiers can be fed with power via a central power supply.

Application Example

The following diagram shows the setup with one dual band, 2 MIMO Wi-Fi access point. In total the single access point (AP) extends the cell area multiple times. The booster modules do not require any additional cabling. It can be simply inserted between the radiating cable segments using delivered RF cables.

Starter Kit

The kit AMP51505925-TRX-K contains a DC-Feeding Unit (DFU), one Wi-Fi Booster Module AMP51505925-TRX with RF cables for mounting the module on the wall and a Termination Unit (TU) for the termination of the last segment of radiating cable chain. Up 4 booster amplifiers can be supplied via one DFU for a 5 GHz Wi-Fi coverage via radiating cables with a length of up to 500 m.

Wi-Fi Booster

With help of AMP51505925-TRX booster the Wi-Fi radio coverage via radiating cables can be extended. The RX and TX gain is dimensioned that the longitudinal attenuation of radiating cables (e.g. RMC12-CH) with a length of 80 m can be compensated. Two RF cables for mounting the booster on the wall are part of delivery.
